Meta AI is the artificial intelligence lab inside Meta, the company behind Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp. It is part of the big AI fight, and it does not get the attention OpenAI does, which makes it interesting.
My view: Meta AI is the quiet contender. It ships models, it puts AI into all those apps billions of people use, and it gives a lot of the technology away for free, which drives the whole industry crazy. That is a real strategy: make the AI good enough, put it everywhere, and let everyone else fight over who is “winning.” I think people sleep on Meta’s AI because it is not as loud as the other players. But the apps it plugs into are everywhere, which gives it a huge advantage. My take: watch what it actually ships and where it shows up, not just what it announces. The quiet ones can surprise you.
