FIFA
Football's governing body and the eternal subject of the sport's most durable scandal coverage.
FIFA is the organization that runs world football, which means it runs the biggest sport on the planet, and also one of the biggest scandals in sports history.
My view: FIFA is the eternal villain of football discourse. Every World Cup brings the same mix: incredible matches on the field and loud questions about the organization off it. Corruption scandals, hosting questions, money problems. People love the game and love to hate the people who run it. I get it. The sport is bigger than any single organization, and the games always end up carrying the story. I do not think FIFA is going anywhere, and I do not think the arguments about it are going anywhere either. My take is simple: enjoy the football, keep an eye on the organization, and do not be shocked when the next scandal drops. It is the most predictable plotline in sports, and it never disappoints.
