OpenAI is the company behind ChatGPT, which makes it the company behind the biggest tech boom of the decade. Everyone either loves it, fears it, or is confused by it. Usually all three at once.
My view: OpenAI is really good at two things: building impressive AI and making people argue about it. The products are genuinely useful. I use AI, I talk about it, and I think it is here to stay. But the company is also at the center of every fear story, from jobs to deepfakes to “AI will replace everything.” Some of that fear is fair, some of it is overblown, and a lot of it is just the internet doing what it does. I try to judge OpenAI on what it ships and how it handles the big questions, not on the hype around each launch. The company is not going anywhere, and neither is the debate about it. I will keep watching both.
